Gentlemen start your motors!

On November 26, 2011 you can witness the first EV Cup Race.  Originally slated to start in Europe, the first two will take place in California.  November 26, 2011 at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will launch the EV Cup series, then on December 17, 2011 there will be the second event at Auto Club Speedway in southern California.  Admission is free, but you must register for tickets.  For more information visit their website at www.evcup.com  As some of you may remember, EV4U hosted a charge and lunch stop for the ZERO Race which passed through Northern California last November.  EV4U is focused on converting classic commuter vehicles, but racing does wonders to advance the acceptance and technology of electric vehicles.  We'll see you at the finish line.

Coming Soon

Coming this Fall and in 2012, EV4U Custom Conversions will be producing a series of How-To videos.  The videos will feature our 1974 VW Karmann Ghia, but will be geared toward EV conversions in general.  Topics will include chassis inspection and preparation, brakes, shocks, front and rear suspension, safety, conversion components, design, installation, wiring, etc.  Join us as we attempt a step-by-step conversion documentary.  Between YouTube, this Blog, and our EV4UNow website, we hope to be able to show you just what is involved  in a gas to electric conversion and answer any questions along the way.  So stay tuned...

ReFuel at Laguna Seca

The last weekend of June found B.O.B. at the third annual Refuel event at the Mazda Raceway, Laguna Seca.

The event offers electric vehicle owners the opportunity to run their vehicles on the world famous track.  As has been the case every year, quite a few Teslas were in attendance.  This year there were several additional factory built electric cars on the track.  A couple of Mini Es, AC Propulsion's eBox, and a couple of Nissan Leafs.  But the more interesting vehicles were the conversions.  There were two Porsche 914's, two Mazda Miata's, a Pontiac Fiero,  a Porsche 928, and of course B.O.B.  And for you EVTV fans, Matt Hauber was there, alive and well, and with a beautiful lady by his side.  Check out the photo of Matt, girl friend, and B.O.B.  The weather was perfect and everyone had a good.

Interesting

Look closely and you will notice a half dozen Teslas, and at the end of the line, a lone VW Beetle.  There is a group gathered around looking at the Beetle, interesting.  By the way, it's no ordinary Beetle, it's EV4U's B.O.B.

Don't be fooled...

Gas prices have been dropping slightly, but that's just to desensitize you to the next level.  In 2002 gasoline was $0.99 a gallon, in less than ten years the price was over $4.00 a gallon.  The price moves up and down, but the net result is that the price is rising.  Perhaps this next year, or whenever the next big price jump takes place, an electric car will look better than ever.  However, as the price of fuel goes up, so does everything else, including the price of the electric conversion.  The best move, convert to electric today.  Save today and really save down the road.  Contact EV4U now to discuss the move to clean, quiet, efficient, electric power.

B.O.B. at Hot-Orama Saturday, July 16th

This Saturday, July 16th, B.O.B. will be attending the Hot-Orama car show at the Shasta District Fair Grounds.
Stop by and say hello.

Karmann Ghia Project

The crown jewel of the classic VWs is the Karmann Ghia.
Marketed from 1955 to 1974, it combined the chassis and mechanicals of the Beetle, styling by Luigi Segre of the Italian carrozzeria Ghia, and hand-built bodywork by German coach-builder Karmann.
Doubling production soon after its introduction, it become the most-imported car into the U.S.
Over 445,000 Karmann Ghias were produced in Germany over the car's production life.
37 years after the end of production, the Karmann Ghia still has a loyal following.

We found this 1974 Karmann Ghia Coupe in Brookings, Oregon, originally from Las Vegas, Nevada, the car is rust free and in excellent shape.  EV4U will convert it to electric power and restore it to show quality.  You can follow the project on our website.  When completed, the Ghia will be offered for sale.

What's happening?

EV4U is looking for events to attend, that will help us promote electric vehicles.  We bring B.O.B. (Battery Operated Bug) our award winning marketing vehicle, that demonstrates how simple an electric car really is.  Using B.O.B. as the attention getter, we answer folks questions and share with them the advantages of electric transportation.  So, if you know of an event taking place in Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, or California, please drop us a line and let us know about it.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to the EV4U Custom Conversions Blog.  We receive a lot of email and phone calls regarding electric vehicle conversions.  There are a lot of similar questions being asked, and perhaps a blog format will help get information out, without repeating ourselves so frequently.  It will also give others a chance to weigh in with their thoughts.  If the blog format is not for you, we still welcome the phone calls and emails.
